# Set up the Private Clubs MCP

The person you are working with wants the Private Clubs MCP in this app: private membership clubs worldwide, searched and compared from chat. Find the app you are running in below and follow its section

- **Server key:** `private-clubs`
- **Address:** https://www.theprivateclubs.com/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP, free, no account or key needed)
- **Older entry:** an entry named `clubs` is the same server under its old name, so replace it with `private-clubs` (each section says how)
- **Every app, with pictures:** https://www.theprivateclubs.com/mcp

## Before you start

- Show the person each command or config change, and run it once they agree
- Keep their other MCP servers: add `private-clubs` beside them, never replace the whole file
- Nothing to sign in to and no key to paste

## Check it worked

Start a new session if the app needs one, then ask "Search clubs in Florida". The `search_clubs` tool answers with clubs and a link to each profile

## Agent apps: run the setup

   ```json
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "private-clubs": {
         "url": "https://www.theprivateclubs.com/api/mcp"
1. In VS Code, add the private-clubs server inside `servers` in `.vscode/mcp.json`, or in the user `mcp.json` that MCP: Open User Configuration opens for every workspace, beside any servers already there
   ```json
   {
     "servers": {
       "private-clubs": {
         "type": "http",
         "url": "https://www.theprivateclubs.com/api/mcp"
       }
     }
   }
   ```
2. Confirm that you trust the server when VS Code asks to start it
3. In the GitHub Copilot CLI, run this instead
   ```shell
   copilot mcp add --transport http private-clubs https://www.theprivateclubs.com/api/mcp
   ```
