It was a great great honor to be Maurice Levy's guest at the club. Maurice introduced me to Sidney Poitier who was a member at Hillcrest. I met a few other gentlemen forgive me for not remembering names. I also saw the president of City National Bank but Maurice didnt introduce me to him. Maurice was a legend and his marriage to Shirley was legendary in the love they shared. When we moved to Hancock Park, Maurice and Shirley had two miniature poodles. One was named Loveable the other was named Miserable. Maurice declared to us that he was the second Jew to move into Hancock Park. Who was the first Jew we asked. Maurice replied let me tell you a story about Nat King Cole. I was confused because the Levys didnt practice the same brand of Judaism as the version I was raised with. But they magnanimously accepted the hand shemurah matzahs we gave them each year at Passover. They let me attach a mezuzah to their door frame because they understood how important that was to me at the time and that it was more so love language than anything else. I once gave Maurice the Stone Edition of the Artscroll Chumash- an English translation of the Five Books of Moses. Maurice did something I never did. He read the Chumash in its entirety from beginning to end. He gave it back to me and said "A lot of it is written in layman's terms and i think that the common understanding causes more strife than good." Maurice, now that I am 46 and not 16 I could not agree with you more. George Burns a widower used to visit the Levy's. He parked his gold rolls royce on the side of the house, and according to Maurice they played cards which now that I think about it was strange because why didn't they meet up at the club.

Went for lunch with a group of friends. Had a Cobb salad which was ok, nothing particularly special about it. It actually didn't look as fresh as the one I had at CPK. Service was very good. Scenery/backdrop was spectacular.

Absolutely stunning wedding venue. The facilities are in top notch condition and the staff is professional and friendly. Note: This is a private facility.
