Had a great trip to Captiva, staying at the South Seas Resort. The pool areas were nice, especially the Captiva Landing area. There were two areas on the beach where free chairs and umbrellas were provided. The beach was gorgeous and not crowded. We loved all the food we had on and off the resort. The prices are inflated for food, but representative of a vacation town, so it was to be expected. It was great having a starbucks on site for morning coffee walks! There is a lot of walking here because the resort spans well over a mile long. There are golf carts and bikes available to rent, a free trolley too, but we had our own car and enjoyed walking around. It's pretty quiet and relaxed. The island is a mix of guests and owners, so it's important to mind your manners as this is also people's homes sprinkled in and around island. There is some construction going on here and there where they are building new features or updating, or finishing up repairs from the last major hurricane. None of it was bothersome at all and noise was minimal during our stay. There are some surrounding shops and restaurants on and off the island, and like I said, all our meals were really good portions and tasted great! The front desk staff was very friendly and there is a texting line for questions which they responded to promptly. We stayed in the bayside condo. They were older buildings, but a nice job was done to update most of the facades, landscaping, and interiors. We had everything we needed for the 5 day stay and didn't need to call for anything additional. Housekeeping is by request here. Our condo was a one bedroom, second floor and was very clean. The common areas and walkways were also impeccably clean, there is a ton of staff throughout maintinating everything. I have no complaints about our stay. If I had to have something that could use improvement, it would be the tap water in our condo, which had a treated taste to it, no smell, just didn't want drink it, so we did end up buying a case of bottled water at an island grocery store. I think that the south seas provisions should lower the cost of water to accommodate those who don't wish to leave the resort for better drinking water. We didn't experience weird the taste anywhere else. Also our tvs were dated, so we couldn't log into streaming services at night, just watching digital cable. All in all I am very happy with our experience and would recommend South Seas Resort!

South Seas Captiva is a great place for a relaxed island getaway. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, and the staff throughout the resort are friendly and welcoming. The setting is beautiful, with a laid-back island vibe and truly fantastic sunsets that are a highlight of the stay. That said, compared to previous visits, some of the genuine island charm feels like it has been partly lost, likely due to updates and changes over time. It doesn’t take away from the overall quality of the resort, but it’s noticeable if you’ve been here before. Check-in took longer than expected due to difficulties locating our booking, which was a bit frustrating. Once resolved, however, the rest of the stay was smooth and enjoyable. Overall, still a very nice experience and a place we’d consider returning to.

We had a great vacation with our kids and their grandparents. We went the three days before Christmas in 2025. They were awesome activities every night for our young kids to participate in that we didn't even expect were going to be set up - activities with a Santa, jump house, Family game night, and the opening of their new water park that is now open and running. My entire family had a great time. The closest grocery stores about 10 mi from this location back in Sanibel Island so it's good to ensure you pick up groceries on the way to the resort!

I preface this with the understanding that South Seas was almost wiped off the face of the earth with Ian. I had heard South Seas had reopened to partial capacity in March of 25. My husband and I decided to get away for a couple of days. Based on all accounts from the website everything was fine. We arrived Monday afternoon and we're greatest by really friendly staff. We booked 2 nights in a guest suite $220 aprox and a 25 resort fee, not horrible for a resort of this magnitude. The directions we were given to our room were not correct and had us at the opposite end of the island from our rooms almost directly behind the office. Room was beautiful. Clean crisp fresh. Ice maker empty and refused to make ice. Ice bin was dusty and freezer shelves were rusting. There was no ice machine available in the building we were in, having us drive to the front desk. An annoying inconvenience. Main pool still under construction. Water slide, pumps, landscaping and pathways were only partially set up. Food was tenuous at best with all places down except for the amazing beach restaurant in the evening. However we were there at the beginning of the week..,. I was informed that the golf, tennis and all of the beach was not open but I can't attest to that We had 2 people asking us if we had known that the property was still in this shape? There was not, nor is there now any indication of the condition of the property. I myself didn't expect it perfect knowing what it has been through but I expected more. Some of what I said was nit picky, some real annoyances the whole ice thing, it's nice to have a cocktail after a long drive reaching your resort. I know this was a run on review but I know South Seas Plantation can do better. I am involved in devoloping large projects similar to this. Opening too soon or are not upfront about ongoing construction due themselves a disservice. Hopefully the bean counters take note

We have had a fantastic four-day weekend at South Seas. We stayed October, 2025. We haven’t been here since 2022, but the place remains magical with it’s incredible views, relaxed atmosphere, and beautiful room (we booked a two-bedroom premiere Beach Villa). Many upgrades to the resort - the room was perfect, the restaurants are top notch, and the pools have many little details that have been updated. Customer service was outstanding and the staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. Yes, there is some construction in isolated areas of the resort, but it never interfered with our vacation and we only noticed it when we were passing by the soon to be completed water park (near the entrance/tennis villas). We will be back anytime we need to catch a tropical breeze. Nice work South Seas team!
