The Country Club of Orlando was founded in 1911 as one of the first country clubs in Florida. This prestigious institution set a high standard for golf in the area and continues to be a beacon of tradition and quality in Florida golf. It is known for its classic course design and signature combination of tree-lined fairways and strategically placed hazards. In terms of architectural history, Walter A. Schmidt is responsible for the original layout of the course. The first major renovation was done by the renowned architect Donald Ross in 1917, and Rees Jones undertook another significant remodel in 2007. The Country Club of Orlando is a private club.
