When Don Ross designed this course it was as if he asked the mountain what it wanted to be. If there is a better example of a course design fitting and flattering the contours of a gorgeous stretch of the Appalachians, this golfer has not seen it. Knowing Bobby Jones christened and enjoyed its challenges as he honed the skills that would earn him his Grand Slam is understandable. The tight approaches and fast greens can put even a well placed layup to the test. The beauty of this place is complimented by the warm family-oriented atmosphere of not only the highly professional staff, but the club's members. The entire operation is first class.

Beautiful golf courses and lakes everywhere! The country club itself has amazing service and a beautiful pool and fitness center. There’s also golf carts to use! Great experience and fun for everyone in the family.

The facilities are very nice and we enjoy going here every year for Christmas lunch. It's a nice bonus that the money goes to the H.A.N.D.S charity.

Highlands Country Club is a classic mountain golf course. It is carved out of the hills of North Carolina, and is always in fantastic condition. The views a golfer experiences are amazing. Highlands is another great Donald Ross design. That alone sets Highlands above most others. Add the fact that Bobby Jones used Highlands Golf Course to perfect his game, that says everything about the course. It requires precise iron shots to the greens, and a delicate touch once you reach them. The clubhouse has plenty of memorabilia to entertain most history buffs.
