AGLCA cruisers met here. If you have a connection it is a good place to go. Their bar ( coming with a member) is welcoming and less expensive than other bars. There are four yacht club/ marinas next to each other. A good place to stop for one night before going past Lady Liberty and up the Hudson

GREAT KILLS HARBOR OYSTER NURSERY As part of the Living Breakwaters Project, the Billion Oyster Project (BOP) has installed an oyster nursery in Great Kills Harbor to add oyster spat to the Raritan Bay. Great Kills Harbor is also home to the Oyster Research Stations of Saint Clare School, IS 24, Marsh Avenue Expeditionary Learning, and New Dorp High School.

We agree with other reviews, the harbor host who is an older man was mean, rude and argumentative; as if he doesn’t want anyone to stay there. I believe his name is “John”. We have stayed at hundreds of marinas and yacht clubs in three countries and he is the worst man we’ve ever encountered. Also, there is no way to contact this yacht club for a reservation because no one answers the phone or responds to email requests for dockage. The one star rating is for the Pinto family that is staying there longer term, he and his grandson were friendly. Great Kills Yacht Club should consider signing up with Dockwa so that they could eliminate the need for a harbor host and automate the procedure as other yacht clubs do. We do not recommend this yacht club at all until they rid of the current harbor host.
