Concerns Regarding the Fitness Director Lamont at SGC; As a guest at the SGC, I've been incredibly impressed by the beautiful grounds, and scenery. However, my experience with the Fitness Director has been consistently negative and warrants a formal review. My friends and I have unfortunately found his fitness classes, both one-on-one and group sessions, to be virtually identical and ineffective. It's clear he lacks a fundamental understanding of fitness instruction; he doesn't seem to grasp proper techniques and, more concerningly, dismisses our concerns when we inquire about specific movements or experience pain after his workouts. Beyond the quality of instruction, his professional conduct is deeply problematic. He aggressively pushes his classes, creating an uncomfortable environment that is entirely unsuited for a country club setting. This isn't a high-intensity gym; members and guests expect a respectful and pleasant atmosphere. He has even bullied one of my friends after a session, leaving her so distressed that she actively avoids him, a sentiment now shared by many in our group. The Fitness Director speaks poorly about his colleagues, actively attempting to dissuade members from using other trainers. A particularly alarming incident involved my friend's teenage son, a healthy aspiring athlete with no prior injuries, who was physically hurt after just one session with the Fitness Director, Lamont. This immediately led his mother to seek out another trainer at the facility, who possessed significantly more experience with professional athletes and superior credentials. The boy is now exclusively training with the senior trainer and is thriving. The discomfort caused by the Fitness Director is widespread. When my friends and I try to use the gym, we actively try to avoid him due to his behavior. Quite literally. His presence in the gym is so off-putting that we often scope out the area to ensure he's not there before we feel comfortable using the facilities. While I am not a member, it's widely discussed among guests that this individual is not well-regarded. His attempts to promote himself seem to lack any genuine basis in successful instruction, and the physical harm experienced by my friend's son and another friend (who hurt her back) after working with him are serious concerns that necessitate this review.

Absolutely a beautiful venue! A panoramic view of the golf course along with a beautiful cocktail room with access to the balcony. If your looking for a venue for an upcoming wedding or special event then this is a great place to start. The food choices are a 5 stars hit and with a great staff and coordinator you can't go wrong. This venue is a must see for you!

Wow what an awesome time... Our nonprofit organization The Jamaica YMCA had our 7th annual Charity Golf Tournament without a glitch. Place, staff, and food was up to part.

One of, if not the best private golf club or country club I have visited. I have avoided joining a golf club for so many years because I couldn’t make the math work. Well SGC made me realize that it’s not about math, it’s about utility. If I were to join a club (and I lived in Westchester), this would be the place. The course itself, while not long, is difficult. It’s a Tillinghast design and it becomes obvious on the back 9 as it feels like almost every green is raised and every shot is blind. It is a true test and is course I can’t imagine getting bored playing. The club house is a superb building that houses the main ball room space as well as The Tillinghast room for lunch and after golf fare. The men’s locker room (spectacular) is also housed in the building. A second a almost brand new building houses the pro shop (everything you could need and more), the women’s locker room ( which I hear is beautifully done) and pool lockers. Yes, the Club also boasts an 25m pool including snack bar and an adults only area where alcohol and higher end snacks are served. A full and professionally run tennis program rounds out the amenities. The other unique and interesting fact about the club is that it is one of the few mixed religion clubs in Westchester. Many clubs here are either predominantly Jewish or predominantly not Jewish. SGC has a nice mix of many cultures and ... hold your breath... they all seem to get along.

Great space for a training seminar or event. A five minute walk to train station.
