I was fortunate enough to have a good friend invite me to play at this beautiful course. Staff was wonderful and I really enjoyed the time spent there.

Best view in Bucks for banquet room type events upstairs, and the downstairs bar is now open to the public- not just "member's only" access anymore.. that fact, along with having a brand new, full service kitchen (K's Kitchen and Catering, to be precise.. ) added just this past year behind the bar, makes Alexander's Pub a top notch venue and public hotspot.. The clubhouse and grounds are in top shape; a gorgeous sight when the pub has live entertainment on the patio out back on select Thursdays and Fridays, all throughout the summer.. I may have a bit of a biased opinion, but facts are facts.

Extended course review: Yardley Country Club offers a different challenge for today’s golfer; trying to figure out why it is a private course. At 100 years old, Yardley pales in comparison to other local greats (Makefield Highlands), but the golf course’s terrific design keeps it viable for the many members who play here. There are downsides. My Rueben was a ham and cheese sandwich. The greens are fast but boring (not a good combination). And then there are the trees, which are so tall that they decrease the usability of many portions of the fairways. Fairways leave something to be desired anyway. As strategic as they are, they only really get interesting and exciting toward the later holes. The back is the better nine. But there’s two other factors in effect here: exclusivity and the atmosphere. Exclusivity is why the members sign up here, why my round was under three hours, and really the main reason why this is a five star review (if you get the chance to play here, do it because it doesn’t come around too often). But the other reason it is five star is because of atmosphere. Golf LIVES here. Competitions are going on around you. Men and TONS of women are totally invested in this place with the golf tournaments and competitions, which is a beautiful thing. You can’t escape the chatter. It’s all around you. That’s terrific for members, but is exclusivity and the social/competitive aspect enough to make you sign up to be a new member? Is it enough keep you playing here with numerous choices of public courses nearby that are downright better, but busier?
