Leopard Creek Country Club
About the club
Johann Rupert, the wealthiest man in South Africa, created Leopard Creek Country Club as a private preserve for himself and his golf buddies. Located near Melalane, along the Crocodile River at the edge of Kruger National Park, the club offers one of the most thrilling settings of any golf facility in the world. Rupert tirelessly promotes the game in his home country and across the world, being among other things the Chairman of the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation, which brings the Alfred Dunhill Championship here every December. The layout is credited to Gary Player, but Rupert certainly had a hand in it, and the result is beautiful. The water hazards are to be respected here, since they may contain live crocodiles. Players can supplement their experience on the course with a visit to see the lions, leopards, rhinos, zebras, antelope and elephants in Kruger Park.
