The staff is outstanding. The course is challenging and has a nice design. The fairways and greens are very good. But the rough is far too penalizing for my game. You can be 5 yards off the fairway and in 5 inches of rough (hole 17 around the fairway bunker to be exact). For a recreational golfer it will definitely detract from the rest of the experience. It’s a course that’s close to me and I would consider joining if they kept the rough like the rest of the courses around my area. But if you want US Open type experience, it’s perfect.

Lake Chesdin Golf Course is in great shape as of September 1st. Greens are sanded but still rolling well, with thin, high-quality sand. Fairways are nice, but the rough is tough—hard to find your ball at times. It’s a very walkable course with a lovely clubhouse, huge practice green, and good range. Just a heads-up: ask at the clubhouse for directions to holes 1 and 9, it can be confusing. Overall, a fun, well-maintained course worth checking out!

Good staff. OK layout. Decent maintenance. Rough is even but ball sits down in it so much that you can't find your ball until you step on it. Not a bad place. Just not that interesting. No real.hazards to contend with.

Pros: Beautiful, Lush conditions on every well-designed hole! Best public-course fairways in all of Central Virginia! Greens held even long iron shots! Cons: Slowest greens in all of Central Virginia... LOL! [We realize this keeps them healthier and they rolled very true, just sooo slow.] Bunkers ranged from good to mediocre depending on which type of sand was in each. [We realize that Chesdin isn't Kinloch, so not a deal breaker. No Other Cons... Nice Folks, excellent hole routings & private club course conditions! Go Play!

Lake Chesdin is one of the best golf courses in the Richmond area. The conditions were great considering the incredibly hot summer that much of the state of Virginia has had. The greens fees were also priced fairly when compared with other courses in the area. Lake Chesdin is a private club but does allow limited public play making it one of the most player friendly courses in the area.
