Grand National Golf Course
About the club
The Lake Course Robert Trent Jones Sr. once called Alabama's Grand National the most spectacular golf site in the world. That may not be true, but the place stays a lovely destination to play golf. But it's no stretch to say that the Lake Course is worth making a detour. The Lake Course at Grand National is a formidable challenge thanks to its enormous, undulating greens, sprawling bunkers and the 12 holes that tangle with 600-acre Lake Saugahatchee. The risk/reward par-5 12th that boomerangs to the left and the all-carry par-3 15th that plays to an island green are the boldest reminders of how the course got its name. Hit it crooked and you're in for a serious soaking. The Lake Course at Grand National is the host of the PGA TOUR's Barbasol Championship in July. The Links Course The cornerstone of the complex is the Links course, which is without a single weakness. The par-four eighteenth hole is without a doubt one of the strongest finishing holes on the Trail. However, the Links at Grand National doesn't play like a traditional seaside links. The Short Course The Short Course is a thing of beauty, with more than half the holes touching the Lake Saugahatchee. This 18-hole course of one-shotters might be the finest anywhere in the country.
