About the club
Though Australia is renowned for courses dating from the early twentieth century, not all of its great clubs are so historic. The globetrotting designer Robert Trent Jones II had probably never come across ground as good as he found here half an hour outside of Perth. The undulating land boasts abundant native trees and brush, as well as the nearly pure sand that is a feature of all links courses, though the nearby sea did not compel Jones to lay out his course in that manner. The 27 holes, all of similar difficulty and length, are all named according to the scenery: thus water is the outstanding feature of the Lake, while the Dune scales and descends sandy hills, and the Quarry incorporates a place where rock was once excavated. The golfer who can only make time for eighteen should be sure to work the Quarry, but every hole has its charm.
