Kingston Heath Golf Club
About the club
According to local lore, Royal Melbourne's composite course may be the world's greatest, but there is no better course in Melbourne itself than Kingston Heath. Though not overly lengthy at 6352 meters, the course still presents one of the great tests in golf. The preliminary design constructed in 1905 received the Alister MacKenzie touch some twenty years later, when the master added some of his renowned bunkers and set the stage for the stunning vision that is the contemporary Kingston Heath. No two holes here are the same, though the longer ones are mainly doglegs; MacKenzie's bunkers and tea tree groves demand that all golfers consider their shots carefully, and they can expect to use every club. Beware especially the 3rd, one of the world's best short par 4s; accomplished golfers will find it drivable, though the grueling small green that awaits discourages most from even trying.
