Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club - The South
About the club
Like its longer sister the South, the North Course at the Peninsula Country Club boasts all of the luxuries and the atmosphere for which this establishment is celebrated as one of Australia's best. The original design by Sloan Morpeth in the Sixties was updated in 2002 by Michael Clayton, a champion player who has studied course design very carefully and has a special feel for the classic courses for which his country is so well known. It is therefore not surprising that a top golf critic referred to his work on the North as "the best golf course renovation ever completed in Australia." The bunkering here recalls the Sandbelt style for which MacKenzie's courses in the Melbourne Sandbelt are known. Once again, shot placement is more important than shot length. Par 3 holes extend into differing environments, creating numerous intriguing doglegs that play out over gently rolling hills.
