About the club
This course, located in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, outside Sydney to the north, was the first one built in the region for two decades when Graham Marsh laid it out in 1994. In comparison with Australia's splendid classic courses, the look of Terrey Hills is unabashedly modern and American. The natural forest that borders the sculpted fairways and the ample wind demand that players think through their shots. Although initially somewhat severe in appearance, the growth of natural flora has mellowed the course. The careful selection of grasses includes broad bent for the greens. The third, seventh and ninth holes offer a real challenge to average players with their imposing bunkers and cleverly positioned water hazards. At 6437 meters, this fairly long course has attracted some first-class venues. There are a variety of tees, so the best strategy for playing the course is probably to start somewhat forward.
