The Dunes Golf Links
About the club
Set in the rolling coastal sand hills of "The Cups" region of the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne, the Dunes was designed in 1997 by the renowned course architect Anthony Cashmore. Quite long at 6409 meters, the Dunes has sloping fairways with undulating knolls and ridges. The large greens are either set in natural amphitheaters or are exposed to the elements on elevated platforms; they are firm and fast, but true. The natural terrain is perfect for good, strategic bunkering, and offers some fierce rough to those who stray offline. The natural beauty of the enormous surrounding dunes makes this a course that was more discovered than designed. Toward the sea, the Bass Strait provides changeable weather conditions that, together with the great variety of holes, make for a splendid and unpredictable golfing experience. The Dunes is a public course, unlike most in the area, but is always in good condition.
