This true links course, comprising thirty-six outstanding holes some thirty miles outside of Perth, debuted in the mid Nineties. Graham Marsh designed the courses at the Vines as four nine-hole sets; any two of these can be combined for an experience that builds on the best in Australian course architecture. The resulting courses will challenge even top golfers, as witnessed at the Heineken Classic, which marked the Vines' debut. There is ample space between tee and green for average players to enjoy themselves; Marsh realized fully the possibilities of this excellent location, creating a balanced course with attractive and ample fairways, large, cleverly positioned bunkers, and wide greens that allow for a variety of pin placements. Any pro who wants to chart a test that separates the wheat from the chaff, however, will find ample opportunities here. With the Vines, Perth is coming into its own in Australian golf.
