About the club

The Canyons For half a century Palm Springs has been the location for the Bob Hope Desert Classic. The competition consists of five rounds, at least four of which are held on different courses. There are many clubs in the area that compete for the honor, and one of the newer ones to achieve it is the Bighorn Golf Club. The Canyons course at Bighorn was designed by popular architect Tom Fazio. Since this is Palm Springs, the site is of course excellent, framed like all the area courses by the mountains and the desert. The crisp, clean atmosphere and fantastic vistas all around make for especially fine golf in the winter. In typical Southern California fashion, the Canyons works in the native landscape, featuring brush, boulders and the occasional ravine, but also abundant water in the form of brooks and even waterfalls. The course's reputation as one of the region's best is well earned. The Mountains Arthur Hills designed the second course at Bighorn in 1991. The course is located on hills of Palm Desert and offers spectacular views over the city. The Mountains course hosted the Skins Game from 1992 to 1995, with winners including Payne Stewart, Fred Couples and Tom Watson. It's one of the best desert courses in the area and it really worth playing it. The course is less challenging than its brother "The Canyon" but still is very enjoyable to play and promises thrilling rounds of golf.
