Beijing Honghua International Golf Club
About the club
The Honghua was the first course that Nick Faldo, winner of six top tournaments, designed in this part of China, and he was presented with choice real estate in the center of Beijing, near the Olympic Stadium and the National Aquatics Center. The site itself is completely level, but Faldo carried out the heavy lifting necessary to transform it into a place for good golf. Since its opening in 2003, the Honghua has earned a reputation as one of the best courses in the city, and has attracted such championships as the Volvo China Open in 2006, where Jeev Singh emerged victorious from an epic showdown with Gonzalo Fernandez Castano. In typical Faldo fashion, the course cleverly deploys water hazards and bunkers offers a variety of options for pin placement. The challenging par 4 15th is probably the signature hole, set among lovely willows and with an imposing bunker defending the green.
