Nicklaus at Reignwood Pine Valley Golf Club
About the club
While it is a bit overshadowed by the Golden Bear, the second-built Nicklaus Course has, since its opening in 2006, also been enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. Abundant water (especially along the back nine), contoured fairways, and Nicklaus' strategic eye combine to create a course that makes it clear why this winner of 18 premier tournaments is in such great demand as a designer. The Pine Valley site takes its name from the 2000-plus trees that were sown here in preparation for the building of the complex, and both courses also make use of natural flora that changes with the seasons. The yawning traps beside the greens and the expanses of sand that make up the bunkers are as impressive as the large and exceedingly fast greens. The Nicklaus Course has an imposing length—more than 7500 yards from the members' tips—but visitors have a variety of teeing options.
