About the club

Hainan, the island on the far south Guangdong province, has emerged in the past couple decades as a major tourist area; the beaches of white sand and tropical weather have earned the region the title of the Chinese Hawaii. Many of the luxury hotels here feature excellent courses. The course at Yalong Bay was one of the first of these, laid out by Robert Trent Jones II, and it has earned a reputation for its scenic and enjoyable play consistently since opening in 1997. The course has attracted a number of tournaments over the years, most notably the TCL Classic that used to be part of the European Tour. The nature of any given round at Yalong Bay is a function of how strong the sea breezes happen to be that day. Other challenges here include the bunkers and water hazards. Maintenance is top-notch, as is the recently renovated clubhouse.
