Zhuhai Golden Gulf Golf Club
About the club
The three nines here are all called after the famed Scottish Nairn, Turnberry and Troon, the last two of which make up the championship course. Scottish architect Colin Montgomerie is responsible for designing the layout for the Zhuhai Golden Golf Club, which is remarkable for its almost excessively Scottish atmosphere. The course itself is quite level, and features broad, sculpted greens. But even with a bar called Monty's in the clubhouse and the stiff winds blowing in off the sea, this is not a true links course. There is all the same plenty to admire and enjoy on the Troon + Turnberry combination, from the beautifully crafted water hazards to the superb maintenance in every season. So whatever your feelings about Scotland and attempts to recreate it, don't miss the chance to play a round or two here if you find yourself in this part of Guangdong Province.
