Ridgewood Country Club

About the club

Ridgewood Country Club was organized in 1920 on the former Ridgewood Stock Farm. Devereux Emmet routed the “back nine” first; nine holes opened in 1921 and the full 18 were completed in 1922. The property’s stone walls—remnants of the farm—were gradually removed over years by hand, and the land’s bold elevation changes became a defining feature of the layout. ([Ridgewood Country Club]) In the early 1960s, the routing of Interstate 84 forced a major redesign led by Geoffrey Cornish, who created today’s signature 10th hole. Beginning in 2002, Roger Rulewich executed further course improvements, continuing a tradition of sympathetic modernization. ([Ridgewood Country Club]) Ridgewood is a private, full-amenity club (golf, racquets, swimming, dining). Membership inquiries are handled by the club’s Membership Coordinator; contact details are listed on the Discover Membership page. ([Ridgewood Country Club]) Guest play is governed by published Golf Rules & Policies (updated Feb 5, 2025). Highlights include seasonal definitions, prime-time tee-time procedures, dress code, and guest/green fee schedules (e.g., in-season prime-time accompanied guest fee of \$150, non-prime accompanied \$100, with additional provisions for family/houseguest access). Always consult the current document for specifics. > Notes on discrepancies: Some third-party directories list different overall lengths/ratings. When they conflict, the club’s published 6,860-yard championship figure is prioritized for yardage; ratings/slopes per tee are taken from GolfNow unless you have USGA NCRDB figures handy for your edition.
