Casa de Campo - The Dye Fore
About the club
Course architect Pete Dye made sure that the incredible mountain and ocean scenery along the Chavon River would be a big part of the golfing experience on his eponymous course at the Casa de Campo luxury resort, and indeed nearly half of the holes are laid out overlooking the river valley. At 7077 meters (at least from the tournament tees), the course is quite lengthy, so the picturesque background offers a welcome diversion. A couple of par 3 holes are particular standouts here, the 15th and 12th, both of which demand long carries across expanses of wilderness in order to reach greens that are defended by strategically placed bunkers. Practice facilities are limited, though a driving range at the neighboring "Teeth of the Dog" course is within easy reach by shuttle. Rather than scheduling tee times, the custom here is to make the call with the words, "now accepting challengers."
