Roco Ki Golf Club - The Faldo Legacy Course
About the club
Nick Faldo, winner of half a dozen championships, designed the course that bears his name at Roco-Ki Golf Club in Punta Cana in 2008. The location is superb, with a layout that includes mangrove stands, breathtaking vistas out over the sea and plenty of local fauna to keep an eye on things. Players with accuracy and precision will reach the fairways without much problem; average players should be prepared to lose a few balls. A fairly constant crosswind adds to the challenge. Probably the most memorable hole is the par 3 17th, known as "El Caiman," which plays downhill to a diminutive green framed by dramatic views. Survivors can regroup at such nearby beachfront establishments as the Jellyfish Restaurant and the Huracan Cafe. While the staff at Roco-Ki is attentive, other amenities leave something to be desired, particularly the absence of a practice area, though renovations are rectifying the situation.
