Burnt Store Marina is every boater’s dream. Located on beautiful Charlotte Harbor, ranked one of the top ten places to sail by Sail magazine, the basin is just 10 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. Charlotte Harbor is the second-largest estuary in Florida, encompassing 270 square miles, yet it is one of the state’s best-kept secrets. Burnt Store Marina provides direct access to this boating wonderland, just south of Tampa, between Sarasota and Naples. As the largest marina on Florida’s west coast, and one of the largest marinas in the state, Burnt Store offers visitors limitless and unrivaled encounters on the water. Osprey Course The Osprey course has two par four holes (#1 & #9) and seven par three holes. Click on the above Osprey Hole links to view photos of the various holes. On the left side of the fairway on the first hole there is a rather large Osprey nest. I guess she felt that it was her home course. Near the blue tee box on the ninth hole, a flicker has made home in a dead pine tree. Maybe there is some competition for the course name. Pelican Course The Pelican course is the most challenging of the three nine hole layouts. It has three par four holes (#1, #8 & #9) and six par three holes. Heron Course The Heron course has two par four holes (#1 & #9) and seven par three holes. There are always a large number of birds on this course. There are several varieties of Herons on the course - small and large. They may think that this is their home course. A driving range is available for golfers to warm up. There are target rings in the water that allow the golfer to aim to a particular distance and direction. Driving range balls are available at a nominal cost in small and large buckets for people paying daily golf rates, and are free for golf club members. Near the club house area there is a practice putting green. The starter is nearby to let you know when it is your time to tee off. There is a larger putting green with some challenging undulations across the road near the Heron #1 tee area. This practice green can be used for chipping in addition to putting.
