Golf d'Hardelot - Les Pins
About the club
The Golf d'Hardelot les Pins ("Pines" in English) Club is overshadowed by nearby Le Touquet, sometimes being dismissed as just a place for Les Anglais, but the Pins course defies this stereotype. English architect Tom Simpson designed this intriguing layout in the 1930s, and it has suffered very little in the way of alterations over the intervening years. Simpson made the most of the woodland setting, and while his course here is not particularly demanding, it does reward strategic and cautious play even as it offers the opportunity to beat one's handicap, a lure that naturally keeps players coming back. Not at all lengthy in comparison to a modern course, the Pins all the same is nicely balanced, and every one of the diminutive greens has its own bunkering. The upkeep here is top-notch, so players can expect to find exquisitely groomed greens and fairways regardless of the season.
