Golf du RCF La Boulie - La Vallée
About the club
The Valley is the first course built in the Paris region in 1901. Its sinuous and hilly layout for the time was designed by the Scottish architect Willie Park Jr., winner of two British Open championships, who became one of the most famous architects of the early 20th century. The course hosted the first French Open in 1906, won by the Club's pro, Arnaud Massy. The scene of 19 editions of the French Open, of a World Cup in 1963, of many prestigious tournaments such as the Perrier Open (1988 and 1991), the course of La Boulie has seen the evolution of a consequent number of glories of this sport such as Arnaud Massy, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Severiano Ballesteros, Fred Couples or Tiger Woods during the Amateur World Championships in 1994. A course that has become legendary, La Vallée is not very long but rather technical. Its narrow fairways lined with trees of various species, with steep slopes and numerous overhangs are the main difficulty of this course. One never plays it with one's feet flat! The vast and deep greens allow multiple flag positions, from the simplest to the most complex. They are defended by numerous deep bunkers requiring a small but efficient game.
