About the club
Arnold Palmer and his colleague Ed Seay were enlisted to design this course prior to the 2000 World's Fair in Hanover. Beginning with quite level ground, the duo pushed the bounds of the stringent land-use regulations in Germany in order to introduce flow and relief into the course; thus lakes were created from the holes that were left when the earth for the dunes was excavated. There is something of a links feel to the resulting layout, though the overall ambience is rather American than English, with a premium on carries and less emphasis on the short game. The scenery around the club leaves quite a bit to be desired, in particular an electric plant and a mound of salt on either side. The architects are then to be commended for getting so much out of so little; it is a shame that the maintenance is unworthy of their creation.
