About the club

Robin Nelson of the design firm Nelson & Haworth designed a course for Mangilao Golf Club that locals have styled the Pebble Beach of the Pacific for its seaside vistas, dense flora and holes that offer a real test, especially when the breezes come off the ocean. The two nines form a complementary pair. The front nine works its way around a trio of large ponds, and features wide fairways to help deal with the aforementioned breezes. The back nine, on the other hand, plays down over a hundred yards to the sea, and includes a pair of windswept bruisers. One of these is the signature 188-yard, par 3 12th, which moves from a tee shot over the waves to a green nestled amid stones and boulders; no wonder that it is so often photographed, and that every player who makes the green in one is awarded a special certificate by the club.
