Founder Nick Jones opened the first House in 1995 above his restaurant, Cafe Boheme, in a Georgian house in London's Soho. Its Houses combine places to eat, drink, work, exercise and stay, with screening rooms and an art collection of more than 8,000 works.

Soho House Chicago opened in 2014 in the Allis Building in Fulton Market, a belt factory dating from 1908. Spanning five floors and 108,000 sq ft, it has 40 bedrooms, industrial-style interiors, an 80ft rooftop pool overlooking the West Loop, a screening room, a gym and a spa that non-members can also book. A European-influenced menu is served at the ground-floor Allis Bar, and the art collection includes works by Kerry James Marshall, Theaster Gates and Damien Hirst.
