Royal Springs Golf Club

The Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar has some of the most stunning views anywhere in Kashmir; indeed, many would call the course here the most picturesque on the entire subcontinent. Located in the rolling country beneath the Zabarvan Mountains, the course works its way through natural woodlands and ponds and marshes where players may encounter some of the native fauna. In laying out the course, Robert Trent Jones II made the most of one of the most striking sites with which he has ever been entrusted, and his task was probably simplified to some extent by the relative weakness of land use regulations in India regarding environmentally sensitive areas. At 6400 yards, the course is not lengthy; the challenge rather comes in Jones' creative use of the trees and vegetation to define the holes. Any player who comes to the region will want to take advantage of this one-of-a-kind golfing experience.
