Had the privilege of playing this little gem of a golf club tucked away in Ankeny, IA, this evening. This marks my 14th different course played in Iowa. Ankeny Golf & Country Club is a 9 hole, par 35 private club that was the most casual, laid-back club I've played. It's a great track with mature tree-line fairways and small cantilevered greens typical of an old-school course. The conditions were perfect and a lot of fun holes. Where the course can be attacked by a long hitter, its defense is its slick greens with some crazy slopes. I had a blast playing with my host member and his son! The highlight was their signature 9th hole par 3. Playing to a front pin at 158 yards in front of the full patio, I put a smooth 9-iron to about 5"! Overall, a great course with an outstanding membership and staff!

A fun 9-hole private course! Unique character. Not a long course. Quick greens that get faster as the season goes on. Well manicured. Friendly membership and staff.

The golf course is really in great condition. The fairways and greens are in great shape. Pretty challenging 9 hole course. The food is also very good and reasonably priced.
