About the club

Continuous improvements to the Murvagh at the Donegal Golf Club since its opening in 1976 have kept the course up to date for championship play, while the picturesque landscape has remained a joy to behold. The challenges here include the impressive 6500-meter length—though the generous choice of tee positions allows the course to be played down to 5429 meters—and the constant breezes off the sea. Among the standout holes is the 220-meter par 3 16th, which can be a real bear in the wind. Overall, the course creates a sense of blunt sternness rather than of subtlety, but it is all the same an experience that any player will enjoy and learn from. The delightful mid-sized town of Donegal (Murvagh to the locals—and hence the name of the course) nearby offers plenty of things to see and do in addition to the great golf at the club.
