Circolo Golf Bogogno - Del Conte Course

About the club

The late American designer Robert von Hagge designed the two courses at Bogogno Golf Club, the championship Del Conte and the Bonora. Golf at the club, which is located in the Piedmont region of Italy some sixty miles outside Turin, has grown rapidly from a single, brief nine holes to two full-sized courses, and has experienced a concomitant increase in prestige. The site is characterized by spacious, smoothly undulating ground, and von Hagge let nothing go to waste, so that the clubhouse only returns to view with the final hole. Robert von Hagge laid out the Del Conte Course at Bogogno Golf Club in 1996 after he had already completed the Bonora, and he definitely increased the test on his second outing. Like all of von Hagge's creations, the Del Conte makes abundant use of water hazards; in addition, the rough can present quite a challenge in the summer and fall. The length is an intimidating 6485 meters, but the range of tee positions allows players to bring it down under 5800. The setting, along rolling ground beneath the Monte Rosa range, is with its varied scenery reminiscent of Scotland, and the surrounding creeks, ponds and ridges all figure in the course's strategy; but for the absence of beach and sea, this could almost be a links. The 18th hole brings players back to the clubhouse, which boasts a bar and a patio area where meals are served during warm weather.
