About the club
The Okasaki Classic Company hired golf legend and in-demand designer Jack Nicklaus to create a course in Okazakishi, Aichiken, Japan that could handle the demands of a major championship, and he naturally delivered, as was clear when the course opened for play in 2002. The heavily wooded, 874-acre site provided Nicklaus with a great canvas on which to work his magic; in his own words, "the beautiful site is ideal for creating an outstanding layout that will be strategically challenging to the professional yet fun for the amateur to play." Nicklaus would not be expected to create tight, tree-lined fairways that limit how far the ball can be hit. There is accordingly room for long drives, and a range of teeing options is of course available to accommodate players with more modest skills. Ample water and sand hazards, however, make a round almost too much for beginning golfers.
