About the club

La Moye is considered slightly better than the other course on the island of Jersey, the Royal Jersey. An original course was laid here out at the beginning of the twentieth century, but it was James Braid who three decades later brought the play up to tournament level. Being set on a relatively small island where open land is at a premium, there is a kind of claustrophobic atmosphere to La Moye, which has a length of only 5943 meters from the back tees. The surrounding St. Queen's Bay generates some stiff breezes that come into play throughout. The holes that front on the sea provide real links golf, while the holes away from the sea have less relief and are less hemmed in. Among the outstanding golfers whom Jersey has nurtured is Tommy Horton, who competed in the Ryder Cup and achieved recognition on the Senior Tour.
