About the club
Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island is Mount Desert's social anchor — the gathering place for the Rockefeller, Ford, and Astor families who built Bar Harbor and its surroundings into the premier summer colony of the Gilded Age. The Northeast Harbor Club provides the social infrastructure for a community that has attracted American old money to the Maine coast for 150 years. Sailing in Somes Sound — the only natural fjord on the US East Coast — is the defining summer activity.
