About the club

Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club is a standout club in an area—right outside Miri in Sarawak, on the island of Borneo—better known for eco-tourism than golf. The 6803-meter, par 72 layout, built by the Nickels Golf Group design team in 2005, makes its way through thick tropical forest broken up by meadowland. Water of all kinds is abundant; ponds and creeks are in play continually at each hole apart from a couple on the front nine. As if that weren't enough, bunkering is extensive, including greenside, where approach shots need to be both lofty and precise. The greens themselves are of Bermuda Tidwarf, and so play quite fast. The 175-yard, par 3 13th with an island green is the signature hole. Players can expect to meet their handicaps provided that they keep cool and play strategically. They can discuss their round over refreshments on the club's veranda.
