For more than 100 years The Blandford Golf and Tennis Club has been home to a charming social, golf and tennis club enjoyed by members of all ages, handicaps and skill levels. The Club owes its unique character to its founders' commitment as stated in its charter - to encourage membership "by imposing moderate annual dues ad prohibiting any features that may tend to give it an exclusive character. " kimMark200 That has been the tradition since its founding in 1909, when 22 charter members put up $100 each to purchase what was then known as the Porter Estate with the intention of developing a summer retreat for recreational purposes. The group voted to convert the beautiful summer home of Josephine Porter, built in 1822 and located on the estate, into a club house. The Club now features a full golf course (nine holes with multiple tees; in the process of being expanded to 6,000+ yards) and Har-Tru tennis courts.
