Jack Nicklaus made the most of this spectacular site in Baja California, which remains spectacular even after losing some of its front nine to real estate development in 2006. Play is limited to members and guests, but those lucky enough to have the experience will be overwhelmed by the luxury of the El Dorado Golf and Beach Club, a residential resort complex. New Titleists are dispensed in the practice areas; delicious snacks are there for the taking in the shelter rooms, which are also stocked with pricey tequila (the shelter near the end even has facilities for preparing fresh seafood or beef); and the rest rooms are spacious and immaculate. It goes without saying that the upkeep is impeccable. Nicklaus' clever design did suffer from the loss of those beach holes, but it still has nicely contoured fairways leading to picturesque greens that are defended by dramatic bunkering.
