About the club
John Bredemus, the great early promoter of golf in Texas and Mexico, laid out the first course at Guadalajara Country Club in the 1930s, though the present course has been renovated on several occasions and now has a contemporary look. Occupying a site in the middle of Mexico's second biggest urban area, the course is not able to expand, but it has sufficient length to have put on numerous high-profile championships, including a competition organized by Mexican LPGA star Lorena Ochoa Reyes, who got her start here. Pieces of the club's history are on display in the classic clubhouse, which is situated conveniently close to the top dining establishment, Le Champ Elysee, and the top hotel, Quinta Real, in the city. The standout moment on the layout is the par 5 18th, a 528-yard hole that can be reached with two well-placed shots for a satisfying birdie if one is playing well.
