About the club

Michigan's Northern Lower Peninsula offers plenty of places for excellent golf, and indeed for resorts that offer a mix of outdoor activities in order to keep visitors coming all year round, from golf and tennis through skiing and snowmobiling. There are four courses at the Shanty Creek Resort, one of them designed by Arnold Palmer, but the best of the lot is Tom Weiskopf's Cedar River, which fully lives up to the high standard that he has set with his relatively fewer but uniformly excellent other courses. His layout is sympathetic to the fact that most of the players here will be vacationers looking for fun, so it is relatively short, though the eponymous Cedar River creates some tricky water hazards as it winds its way through. A golfer could play a new course every day for weeks on end, but all would want to include Shady Creek's Cedar River.
