About the club
Donald Steel and Franck Pennink designed the first nine holes at Geijsteren Country Club in 1974. The layout was then extended to a beautiful 18-hole course ten years after. The work began in 1983 with the construction of four new holes followed by five holes, surrounded by water hazards. It took two years to complete the renovation and transform the 9-hole course into the 18-hole course. The renovation was directed by Michiel van der Vaart, architect of Jol Golf Design. The course is very enjoyable to play, fairways are delimited by mature trees on both sides and the key-word there is accuracy. Players will have to face a thrilling back nine, especially the last five holes where water is everywhere. This course has played an important part in the development of golf in the Netherlands, hosting the first national matchplay championship in 1988.
