About the club

Robert Trent Jones II and Kyle Phillips teamed up to create one of the Netherlands' newest courses at Lage Vuursche, and it stands out as unapologetically contemporary in a region known for vintage, English-influenced layouts. In part this approach was dictated by the fact that the ground Jones and Phillips were given to work with was entirely level, so contours had to be manufactured artificially through excavation and mounding. The result is a links-style blend of woodland and parkland, with some holes out in the open and therefore subject to the weather. As on projects in low-lying Florida, the creation of elevation simultaneously generated hollows that form the water hazards, which are found here on all but five holes. No other recent club in the country can match Lage Vuursche, from the golf to the kinds of amenities that are found in the best US facilities.
