About the club

The kind of land that makes for good links courses has gotten hard to come by in the past half century, so Noordwijk, being an authentic modern links, is a very special course. An original layout dating to 1915 did not survive World War II, and though the project began to get off the ground in the late 1950s, it was not until 1972 that the club completed its new layout on a completely new piece of ground with a design that combined the efforts of locals and the English group of Cotton, Penninck & Laurie. The initial holes are defined by the trees from a former nursery and bordering forested areas; later holes play near the ocean amid the sand dunes. Visitors may initially feel let down when they realize that the ocean can only be seen from the clubhouse, but once they start playing among the dunes they will be in golf heaven.
