Baltusrol Golf Club

About the club

Baltusrol Golf Club was established in 1895, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in the United States. The club has a rich history, with a famed reputation for its two golf courses, the Lower and Upper. Both courses were designed by leading golf course architect A. W. Tillinghast, who was commissioned by the club in 1918 to build two 18-hole courses. Baltusrol’s courses, particularly the Lower Course, are known for their challenging closing holes. The 4th and 7th holes of the Upper Course are featured in "GOLF Magazine's" list of the Top 500 holes in the world. Baltusrol is a private golf club, and membership is by invitation only. 1.
