Rao's
About the club
The most impossible reservation in America and a genuine private dining institution masquerading as a restaurant. Rao's has ten tables, all permanently assigned to regular customers who have held their "table night" for years, sometimes decades. Frank Sinatra had a table. The Soprano cast ate here. To dine at Rao's you must be invited by one of the existing table-holders. No reservation system exists for new customers. The Italian-American red sauce menu has not changed in decades. It is less a restaurant than a private supper club where the public is simply not invited.
