The Players
About the club
Founded in 1888 by Edwin Booth (brother of John Wilkes Booth) in his Gramercy Park mansion — one of New York's most coveted private addresses. The Players is the premier theatrical and arts club in America, with Mark Twain, Stanford White, and John Singer Sargent among its founding members. The house retains Booth's original Victorian furniture and theatrical memorabilia, making it a living museum of American theater history.
