The Kinloch Club
About the club
Enthusiasts in the US are obsessed with ranking their own courses and those of others, so it is significant when a good number of the countless polls and lists agree on something. From this perspective, Jack Nicklaus' course at Kinloch must be doing something right, because one publication after another has ranked it highly since it opened in 2007. Nicklaus always designs his courses with tournaments in mind, and this one is has length (6734 meters) and bunkers galore, so even the most generous tees may not be enough to open this layout up to less accomplished players. In fact, for all its clear advantages, Kinloch is symptomatic of the relative lack of familiarity that many pros-turned-designers have with the rustic courses that so many average golfers play for fun. So come for a taste of what the top players subject themselves to, and don't be too fixated on your score.
